Carlo Ancelotti has already addressed Old Trafford links as a Bayern Munich icon slams Manchester United

Ancelotti’s feelings on United

As Manchester United step up their attempts to find a new long-term manager, reports have linked another name to the job. Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a target for the club according to ESPN.

The former Chelsea manager may not last much longer in Spain with his team 1-0 down in their Champions League two-legged tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

With Ancelotti potentially of interest to United, the Italian boss has already had his say on the prospect of moving to Manchester.

“You want to know from me?” he said in 2020 of United’s approach. “I can say that I still keep a fantastic relationship with Sir Alex [Ferguson], and we met when he decided to stop [retire].”

Ralf’s ‘construction site’ problems

Despite only being in charge on a temporary basis, interim United boss Ralf Rangnick has already encountered a number of problems. Or at least that’s the view of Bayern Munich legend Stefan Effenberg.

Rangnick has steadied the ship at Old Trafford as United look to name a successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. One issue the German has had to deal with is the inconsistent form of Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Effenberg believes that having to deal with getting the best out of the striker is a major problem in itself.

“This is not an easy task for Rangnick, who has to deal with many problems. [ Cristiano Ronaldo ] that’s another Rangnick construction site. For United fans, Ronaldo is untouchable for life because he has done incredible things for the club,” he told German outlet Sport Buzzer.
