Dan Walker breaks silence on BBC Breakfast as he says he’s not ‘motivated by money’

Dan Walker is about to depart BBC Breakfast.

Yesterday, Dan introduced that he can be leaving the BBC after 13 years to affix Channel 5. Showing on the breakfast present right now, he broke his silence on his newest profession transfer as he stated it has been “a really difficult decision”.

Dan sat subsequent to his buddy and co-host Sally Nugent, who turned emotional when speaking about him leaving. Nevertheless, he claimed that he has “never ever been motivated by money in any job” and he was altering roles as a result of a “fantastic opportunity.”

Sally turned emotional as stated to Dan: “We’ve been friends for 20 years, we worked together for six months, and you’re off!” He replied: “Yes. But as you know – as I explained to you before all the news came out – this has been a really difficult decision for me.”

He added: “Probably the hardest decision I’ve had to make in my career. Because I love you to bits and I love working with you.” Sally emotionally replied: “I love you too, Daniel.”

Dan continued as he stated: “And I love the team at BBC Breakfast. These six years I’ve had on this sofa have been the best six years of my career by some distance. But I think sometimes opportunities come by and you have to grab them, don’t you?”

He defined how the transfer is not cash pushed as he added: “I’ve never ever been motivated by money in any job that I’ve ever taken and even though I love BBC Breakfast and everybody that works on the show, it’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a brilliant team at Channel 5. And also, go an make some other programmes outside of here.”

Dan has anchored the morning present since 2016 – and has been with the BBC since 2009 when he took over as presenter of Soccer Focus. When he introduced the transfer the Channel 5, he stated: ” Channel 5 got here with massive ambitions, with massive plans and I do not suppose alternatives like this come round fairly often and I am unable to wait.”
