‘Dark stain’ on the Palaszczuk government over handling of PCR test confusion

Queensland Editor Peter Gleeson says it is becoming “glaringly obvious” either the Palaszczuk government is “incompetent”, or it does not want to ensure they get policies on getting Queenslanders back correct.

Fully vaccinated travellers will not need to pay $150 for a PCR test after December 17, despite confusions over the issue.

The federal government confirmed travellers could show a free text message PCR COVID test result rather than a certificate, after Queensland indicated they would need the $150 version of one.

“What this required earlier in the week was someone like the Premier to stand up and say ‘look, we’ll sort this out’,” Mr Gleeson said.

Mr Gleeson said instead, Annastacia Palaszczuk “tried to blame” the federal government, which is their “default position every time”.

“Now, of course they want Anthony Albanese to be the next prime minister but it’s becoming glaringly obvious that this government is either incompetent or doesn’t want to ensure that it gets the policies right around getting people back into Queensland.

“I think it’s a dark stain on the way in which they’re handling this crisis.”
