Man arrested after three hour standoff with police on station roof

A person was arrested after a 3 hour standoff on the roof of a police station.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police mentioned: “We can confirm that officers were in attendance on St Anne Street in Liverpool today (Thursday 14 April). At around 7.20pm officers were called to a report of a man on the roof of the police custody suite.

“A containment was in place on the constructing as a precaution whereas officers engaged with the person. He got here down from the constructing at round 10pm and was assessed by emergency companies on the scene.

“A 43-year old man from Waterloo was arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

“St Anne Avenue was closed through the incident and has now been reopened. Thanks in your persistence as we take care of this incident. “
