Her brown leather sofa was beginning to look worn and dated, so she really wanted to give it a total refresh.

She told popular money-saving Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK : “I came up with the idea after seeing it on Facebook.

“I purchased three bottles of dye from Amazon at £19.99 a bottle.

“For the larger sofa, I did two coats with a sponge then the third coat I did with a gloss roller which gave really good coverage.

“I had to let each coat dry first but you can speed the process up by using a hairdryer.

“For the second sofa I went straight in with a small gloss roller and it only required two coats.”

She continued: “Doing this has saved me so much on buying a new sofa.

“The total cost was £60 as opposed to over £1,000 for a new suite!

“I am over the moon with the results and am completely blown away by the response I have had from it.”
